Join me in our air-conditioned 12 seater coach for a relaxing, enjoyable fun trip to Rotorua. We will drive past the marvellous beaches of Mt Maunganui where I will point out the local sites.
We will then travel through Te Puke to learn about kiwifruit, get right under the vines and take some awesome photos. Then a 40 minute trip to Rotorua through farmland, beautiful native bush and radiata pine forests.
At the Geothermal Wonderland of Rotorua there is SO much that we could see. A must is Te Puia Maori Arts and Culture Centre.
Here you can learn about and experience the Maori life and culture, you will witness the marvelous half hour Maori Concert and culture performance, which starts with a fierce Warrior challenge and ends with the ‘HAKA’
Also a guided tour with me to see the amazing performing geysers (Puhuto, the biggest in the southern hemisphere)and the boiling mud pools, The Carving school, the kiwi house where there are two real kiwi birds, the souvenir shop.
At Te Puia there is an opportunity to have a Hangi lunch. This needs to be preordered and costs $17.00 it is a chance to experience food cooked the traditional Maori way.
Then there is the Government Gardens to see and enjoy, The 212degrees ‘Rachels Pool’, The Historic Rotorua Bath house building and then if we haven’t had a hangi, lunch on the Rotorua Lake edge at The Lakeside Cafe.
We have a must see at Kuirau Park, the boiling hot water lake, mud and sulphur pools and maybe a foot bathe in the warm mineral water foot bath.
There are so many other places I can take you to see:
The Redwood Forest. See and breathe the hugh Californian Redwoods
Hamurana Springs. Absolute serene, beautiful clear flowing cold spring water, see the ducks, swans, geese and maybe a trout or two.
Okeri Falls. The tallest commercially rafted waterfall in the southern hemisphere.
There are other sites but only time will permit us to see some of them, before our restful journey back to your ship at the Port of Tauranga.
